STANZA

Overview

When I started as founding designer at Stanza, the product was a Stanford College-led scheduling app, focusing on finding ways to make calendar experiences more powerful for users.

Our secret sauce was onboarding college sports teams and allowing users to instantaneously download schedules to their calendar app of choice. In doing so we discovered a new method of B2C interaction for calendar users.

Year One to Four:

  • We onboarded every major U.S. College including their sports teams.

  • Every major U.S. sports team and organization (NFL, MLS, NBA, NHL) was partnered.

  • We joined up with every major team and organization in soccer worldwide.

  • We moved into other paradigms and we platformed with everyone from Social Media Influencers and Political Campaigners to TV & Movie companies like NETFLIX and Warner Bros.

My Impact

Being one of the first 5 hires at the company, I was involved in every decision that led to our growth period while advocating for design across all areas of the business. Overall, it was a great 4 years with what became friends. I got to enjoy the start-up rush of taking something to mass quickly and seeing it flourish in its own niche pocket.

  • Building the brand and product from inception.


  • As the company and product grew to +30 staff, I Worked across multiple teams, owning design ideas, guiding project managers, engineers, marketing and business development through creative outcomes.


  • Consistently developed wireframes, mockups and prototypes to aid team and research studies.

  • Grew and maintained a design system that allowed for brand consistency across all areas.

I loved being involved in the early stages of Stanza...Pushing the boundaries of the product and founder’s ideas to become a competitive player in our market.

Taking our products from 0 to 5 Million + Syncs was fun!

User Profile Feed &
User Events

The aim was to give users a visual platform that let them easily follow, sync and buy tickets for events on any calendar.

Map Discovery
Mobile Event Filtering

Discovering new content and events was a big part of the overall idea at Stanza and we looked to introduce a discovery map. Using geolocation we would be able to show and recommend events that suited the users profile.

Sync to Calendar

Making the ‘Add to Calendar’ process as simple as possible was a key feature to the structure of Stanza. Allowing users to sync their favorite events and schedules to preferred calendar apps was a cornerstone of the business. The goal was to make this process as short and sweet as possible. Once synced it was important to lead the user to related content to continue discovery.
